[JUL 12] July General Meeting

Join us Thursday, July 12th from 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM at Belinda’s La Casa Grande Cleveland, 9613 Madison Ave, Cleveland, Ohio 44102 for our July general meeting and find out how you can get more involved with Cleveland DSA! We’ll discuss our ongoing campaigns and committee work, and other ways we’re working throughout the Cleveland area!

July’s meeting will include:

• Updates on Local Anti-ICE Actions

  • Thursday’s meeting will include a donation drive for those affected by the recent ICE immigration raids. Losniñosdecorsos is a newly formed organization focused on providing support to immigrants and their families. They currently need:

    Water
    Laundry detergent
    Baby wipes
    Diapers sizes 4,5,6
    Easy foods
    Mexican staples (rice, beans, tortillas, etc)
    Disposable plates, bowls, spoons, forks
    Paper towels
    Toilet paper
    Napkins
    Multi surface cleaners
    Shampoo and conditioners
    Toys

  • AbolishICE: An Interfaith Vigil for Immigration Justice (Friday, July 13th at 6pm)

• Skills-Building Workshop: De-Centering Whiteness

  • Steering Committee Member and Racial Justice Committee Member Jeanne Li will be conducting a short 20 minute workshop on the topic of de-centering whiteness. As many of us are aware, DSA Cleveland has struggled with diversity in attendance. While this is no individual’s fault, learning to step back as a white person can provide a more welcoming space not just in activist spaces, but in your everyday life. We will focus on how to make your organization and social justice work more inclusive and welcoming to people of color. NOTE: People of color are absolutely encouraged to attend and chime in with their opinions.
