In this month’s meeting of our reading group, we will be discussing Chapter 8 of The ABCs of Socialism, “What about Racism?” by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor. Taylor’s article raises important and often neglected questions about the intersections of economics, class, and race in the United States. We will also discuss two articles that offer important perspectives on these questions, Richard Seymour’s “What’s the Matter with the ‘White Working Class’” and Nikhil Singh’s “Capitalism, Colonialism, and the Long Arc of Black Struggle: Reading Jack O’Dell.”
Please join us for this important and challenging conversation. Our reading group meets Saturday, May 13, 2017, from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Martin Luther King Jr. Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, 1962 Stokes Blvd, Cleveland OH 44106
